*If not taken as part of the student's master's degree program, EPSY 715 (or an equivalent) must be taken during the students first enrollment in doctoral study. This course, whether taken at KU or elsewhere, does not count toward any doctoral requirement.
**After successfully completing the comprehensive exam, students must enroll in six credit hours of dissertation per semester (three credit hours during summer) until dissertation is complete - OR - 18 credit hours are completed. After 18 credit hours of dissertation are completed, a student must enroll in one hour per semester, including summers, until the dissertation is completed. Post-comprehensive enrollment credit hours can include Dissertation Seminar (ELPS 969) or additional research courses needed to facilitate completion of the dissertation.
- All EdD students must complete a period of continuous study. Options for meeting this requirement are found in this document: Ed.D. Period of Continuous Study.
- All doctoral students must complete a Responsible Conduct of Research requirement. For EdD students, this is met through the three required research courses.
- Students must successfully complete a written and oral comprehensive exam. This is normally taken after all course requirements have been completed.
