Eugene Parker to receive ACPA Emerging Scholar Award

LAWRENCE – Eugene T. Parker, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Kansas, has been selected to receive the 2019 Emerging Scholars Award from ACPA (College Student Educators International).

The Emerging Scholars Program was implemented by the ACPA Senior Scholars in 1999. The Emerging Scholars Program supports, encourages, and honors early-career individuals who are emerging as contributors to student affairs and higher education scholarship and who are pursuing research initiatives congruent with the mission, interests, and strategic goals of ACPA. Emerging Scholar Program candidates must have an earned doctorate and must be or become members of ACPA. More information on the award can be found here.

Parker joined the faculty at KU in 2015 and is interested in matters of diversity, equity and inclusion as it relates to college students and organizations. His research has focused on the impact of collegiate experiences on college student outcomes, such as leadership and moral development. Parker also has research interests that are focused on organizational and institutional theories, governance, leadership and structures. More information on Parker can be found here.

The 2019 Emerging Scholar Award will be presented to Parker on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the annual association awards ceremony, as part of the larger 2019 ACPA Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.
