Admission to Master's Degree at KU

Application Deadlines for Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration

FULL TIME STUDENTS: Domestic & International Applicants**
January 5 (Priority*) and May 1 (Final) application deadlines to begin the following Fall semester
Students admitted to the master's degree program are required to have a graduate assitantship. *The priority deadline (Jan 5) is to participate in the assistantship process.  We are unable to guarantee availability of assistantship for students who submit for the final application deadline.  **International applicants are not required to have assistantships.  Individuals participating in the Oshkosh Placement Exchange (OPE) are not required to submit an academic application prior to OPE.  More information can be found here.

PART TIME STUDENTS: Full-time working professionals seeking admission as a part-time applicant***
Apply before July 1 to begin the following Fall semester;
Apply before December 1 for the Spring semester; or
Apply before May 1 for the Summer semester

***Part time students are not required to hold an assistantship

Regular admission requires a bachelor’s degree and a grade-point average (GPA) of at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a foreign university with substantially equivalent bachelor’s degree requirements. International applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the application process well in advance of the application dealines to ensure adequate time for processing of visa-related paperwork.  Meeting minimum admission standards does not guarantee admission to the program.

Assistantship Requirement

Full-time students who are admitted to the MSE program in Higher Education Administration must also be offered a Graduate Assistantship in order to fulfill the program requirements. This approach reinforces our philosophy that having hands-on experience working in higher education is critical to your understanding of the academic curriculum. Learn more!
