Des Floyd

Dr. Dessalines (Des) Floyd is a Senior Associate Researcher at the Center for Certification and Competency-Based Education (C3BE), Achievement & Assessment Institute. He began his career in education as a secondary school teacher in a Turnaround/Transition high needs public high school before ultimately becoming a districtwide and statewide coach, servicing schools and districts with the highest concentrations of traditionally marginalized student and family populations. After working for 25 years in education from different parts of the education sector, his efforts are now aimed at system-level change with a focus on education equity and improvements in leadership capabilities and competency. Dr. Floyd also served as a Lead Learning Facilitator for Harvard's Aspiring Leaders, Turnaround Leaders and K12 Administrative Leadership programs in professional education. He completed a Harvard residency at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) as a Special Assistant to the Commissioner on Equity.
